Yes, dreams really do come true for one local team. Not only did they win the league and receive a wonderful trophy, but Dreams FC were invited to local photography studio - Studio One. Our good friend Daral Brenan who runs Studio One held a professional photo shoot to celebrate their stunning accomplishment and we thought we’d send our very own Vic Curry down and treat the lads to their favourite pizzas.
The shoot was organised by Brett Phillips, the son of Dave Phillips who was one of Papa Luigi’s very first delivery drivers. Amazingly, Brett has been a loyal customer ordering pizzas since 1983 when Papa Luigi first launched. The lads loved their pizzas and enjoyed being models for the day, most of them are already regulars and those who weren’t said they would be ordering again!!
Well done Vic and all our Papa Luigi shops that are continually interacting with their communities in Milton Keynes, Huntingdon and Peterborough.
When Papa Luigi Took Over the Little Screen
17 October 2022
Our ITV Hub Advert
Papa Luigi put their heads together with TV networking giants ITV and created 4 wonderful adverts. ITV really pushed for their own actors from London, but we insisted on using local “actors” who loved their moment of fame. We even held weeks’ worth of auditioning and Promotions with our menus and socials leading up to the final shoot to involve as many local people as possible! The response and interaction we got was overwhelming, but in a good way of course.
The adverts were based on lifestyle, for example.. when a customer was hungry and to tired to cook or how a simple pleasure like hearing the doorbell ring and the excitement of delicious pizza led to lots of smiling faces. We won’t lie, it was hectic, organising shoot after shoot with young families, friends, teenagers and the like really tested our skills in new and frankly exhausting ways. But it was so worth it, we got these amazing adverts out of the process, forged new friendships and gained lifelong customers.
Many of the local stars of the adverts still write on social media about how much fun they had during the process and still now how people; recognise them from the adverts! We’re not surprised, we were receiving data from ITV’s tech team that tens of thousands of people were seeing our adverts weekly!! Now that’s celeb status!
For a small local company, we have always punched above our weight. We always try new ideas and always put bringing the community first. For us being a part of our amazing community is what keeps us going.

Peterborough 900 – Papa Luigi Celebrate 900 Years of the Cathedral
6 February 2019
Stef and Sebastian attended the Celebratory meeting for the Peterborough Cathedral’s 900th Anniversary.
Papa Luigi were proud to hand over a cheque of £100 for money raised.
Here – Stef & Sebastian are photographed with the Dean of Peterborough Cathedral.
Many events had been planned and showcased to celebrate the Cathedral in 2018. It was wonderful to see local communities in Peterborough embrace one another and come together in support of the Cathedral.
Once again Papa Luigi got stuck into a local community based event and decided to hold a drawing competition with the local schools.
School children would send in their best pizza designs throughout the early part of 2018 and the winners were invited down to the grounds of the Cathedral for a legendry ,world famous Papa Luigi Pizza Demo with their artwork on display.
To take things one step further Papa Luigi also sold pizza slices at the yearly Peterborough Italian Festival to raise funds for the Cathedral.
All in all Papa Luigi are very proud of the work their team has put into celebrating, organising and fundraising for the Cathedral.
The Bearded Villains Vs Pizza!
26 January 2019
The Papa Luigi crew teamed up with the Bearded Villains to raise money for the Amazons Children’s Ward.
First of all we’d like to say a big well done to the Bearded Villains , we dip our caps to the lads and lasses.
They not only know how to have fun but they raised £1100 for the local Amazon Children's Ward at Peterborough Hospital.
Local lads Andy Thomas and Lee Greeves organised a fantastic charity fun day and second only to the Beard championships was the wonderful and famous Papa Luigi Word pizza Eating Championships!
We even had a new World record for the Hardcore comp with tons of spices on board and that was bravely put away in as little as 6 minutes.
The kiddies had a drawing and dough throwing competition, which they loved so much they took their dough home with them.
A big well done to everyone involved and all the winners. Papa Luigi were proud to support this event.
Also a big thanks to our Lincoln Road branch’s Abby and Val for supplying the yummy pizzas for the competition.
Well done everyone
Papa Luigi Pizza Demonstration with the Women’s Institute
January 2019
The Papa luigi team had a wonderful day at Newborough Village Hall when they were asked to organise another fantastic pizza demo for the lovely Women’s Institute. Sebastian, Stef and Pietro were greeted with a rousing rendition of Jerusalem which is of course the ladies hymn that they are recognised by.
Seb showed the ladies how the pizzas were made using all his 35-year experience and Pietro supported by showing the lovely ladies how to spin the dough, whilst Stef captured the evening on film.
We held our regular box folding competition and the winner took on Stef in the million-pound challenge, it was a close call but Stef came out on top.
The ladies all made their own pizzas to take home and Papa Luigi even treated them to some fresh, yummy Pizzas that were cooked to perfection in the Village hall’s very own oven.
We then moved on to a very dough competitive throwing competition and the ladies went toe to toe with some marvellous tricks and spins.
A great night was had by all, thanks you Ladies for making us feel so welcome!

Sir Michael Caine orders a pizza the action with Papa Luigi
September 2018
Another celebrity customer for Papa Luigi, not just any old Michael Caine, it was Sir Michael Caine who ordered a pizza for a hard working local family.
Sir Michael Caine was appearing on the BBC programme “The One Show” and was asked to place an order for a competition winner, where a viewer is treated each week to a fast food delivery and this week it was Gavin Jinks from Peterborough.
Gavin only had one choice in mind and that was PAPA LUIGI, he decided to order a yummy Meaty Max and we decided to throw an extra pizza in as well!
Val Bahnam answered the phone and took the order while Sir Michael Caine converted his longstanding catchphrase about blowing the door off to “Just ring the doorbell”, Val passed the instruction to our star driver Vic Curry and he delivered in a Mini Cooper to complete a full Italian Job.

Papa Luigi ITV advert shoot
12th May 2017
Everyone enjoyed themselves at the recent Papa Luigi ITV advert shoot at Studio One. It was great fun with free Papa Luigi pizzas on hand, even the paparazzi were in attendance with all the wannabe film stars debuting.
There will be 5 themed Papa Luigi ITV adverts featuring over 50 local people including our regular customers. The 5 themes are:
Football Fans - England v Italy (of course)
Cheerleaders - who were represented by the East Elite Allstars cheerleading squad
A hungry Emperor
Two children’s parties
The local youngsters were joined by three YouTube superstars; the glamorous model Michelina Jones who is featured on many new book covers, The Italian Wolverine, Massimino Malacrino, who had to have his claws removed so he could eat his pizza and finally Cai Jones an up and coming film star who’s video dancing on stage with the band Madness had 1.6 million hits.
Even the parents joined in the fun with Papa Luigi`s very own legend, Dave Reed, playing the essential role of doorbell; yes you did read that correctly! We believe Dave has been spotted by Hollywood scouts and we are hoping to see him on the big screen soon! The photographs have been viewed by over 50,000 people on social media in the first week and have received some great comments.
The ITV adverts will be broadcast soon, in the meantime here are a few of the photographs taken by the paparazzi.
PAPA LUIGI – THE MOTHER OF ALL PIZZAS
8th March 2017
It’s great to see that former Papa Luigi’s promotions and advertising manager Pep Cipriano still holds a special place in his heart for for Papa Luigi and the tireless and wonderful work his mother Anna put’s back into the business.
So many of you have thanked me for the invaluable Valentine’s advice I published last month. It was no trouble and I’m only too pleased to have helped you reignite that spark with the lovely ladies in your life.
But when it comes to giving the ultimate tried and tested advice, women most definitely possess the wisest traits and there’s no better Yoda out there than your own mum.
It’s Mother’s Day this month (March 26), so I thought I’d pay tribute to some of the sound advice and pearls of wisdom my own mamma has drummed into me over the years.
On my girlfriends:
She didn’t offer to wash-up, that’s not a good start.
Never trust a woman with dirty fingernails.
If she’s wearing a revealing blouse like that now, how is she going to turn up at your funeral?
Girls like clean boys, so shower more.
A happy heart is better than a full purse.
On my health and wellbeing:
Being fat means being well kept.
The whole point of eating is to fill yourself up.
Never go out without money in your pocket. You might meet someone who is selling a pig for a penny.
A sandwich is not a meal.
Don’t spend too much on a haircut, it’ll grow back quickly either way.
Never lie to a priest, a doctor or a solicitor.
On my career:
Hard work never killed anybody.
If someone doesn’t like you that’s fine. They’re probably struggling to like themselves.
You’re head hurts because of that computer thing you use.
Eggs cannot teach the chicken.
Look the person you shake hands with in the eyes.
Act like a sheep and the wolf will eat you.
To quote an Italian proverb “A good mother is worth a hundred teachers.” So, treat her well this Mother’s Day because a mum’s education is something you’ll never learn at school.

PLAYERS GET A SLICE OF THE ACTION
Recently Peterborough United captain Chris Forrester, along with attacking midfielder Bradden Inman, paid a visit to the London Road based pizza store, Papa Luigi.
The pair were introduced to staff at the family run pizza chain and posed for pictures before given the opportunity to make their own pizzas.
In 1983, Papa Luigi’s became the very first pizza delivery company in the UK after brothers Antonio and Sebastiano Scibelli and along with lifelong friend Stefano Malajny set up the business.
With a store on London Road (adjacent to the ABAX stadium) and Lincoln Road, Papa Luigi’s has some fantastic offers for posh supporters on match days.

Peterborough Italian Community & Papa Luigi raise over £4000 for the earthquake fund
1st December 2016
The Papa Luigi team once again helped with this year’s Italian Festival in Peterborough which took place on the picturesque Cathedral Square. Organised by the local Italian Community Association it was a wonderful weekend with people giving very generously to the Italian Earthquake Fund with over £700 raised for such a great cause. Papa Luigi Dial a Pizza sold pizza slices with all profits going to the charity, our customers clearly enjoyed a wonderful snack whilst helping such a good cause.
The Anglo Italian Charity Golf Day raised a further £800 whilst the ‘Italian Wolverine’ Massimino Malacrino raised a whopping £3000 with various zany fund raising events including a sponsored haircut, which was widely supported by his Paesanos on “The Growing Up Italian in the UK “Facebook page. All the money raised will help alleviate the plight of many people who have been made homeless by the recent Earthquake that struck Italy.
The unusual weather at the Italian Festival didn’t deter the large crowd enjoying traditional Italian dancing & singing and once again the wine tasting was very popular!
Papa Luigi Partner Tony Scibelli commented:
“Once again the festival was a fantastic showcase for our Italian culture including dancing, opera singing, food and of course vino! Everybody loved having their photos taken in the Ferrari’s.
The Papa Luigi pizza slices went down well again and this year’s chosen charity was more poignant than ever as we were helping our Countrymen back home. Part of what I love about this wonderful area is how well the English and the Italian folk have integrated with so much warmth, which was reflected with all Nations giving generously and the minutes silence for the 294 lost souls was treated with utmost respect”.
Peterborough was visited by many of the 11,000 strong Facebook group “ Growing Up Italian in the UK” and, with the Festival`s reputation so strong, people travelled in from as far as Italy.
A few of the Facebook group, including The Italian Wolverine, also travelled for the cheque presentation day with Papa Luigi founder Seb Scibelli . Pizzas were the order of the day with free flowing vino. Seb added “ It was great to see some of the Facebook group heading over from near and far for the cheque presentation and as well as our delicious pizzas I organised a photoshoot at Studio One as part of our “ Back to our Italian Roots “ campaign.
The Italian Wolverine, who looks a little like Robert De Niro, and local lass Rosanna Caffano, who looks like a young Sophia Loren, took part in the photo shoot so we may even have these “celebrities “ promoting Papa Luigi in the future. It was lovely to round off such great fund raising with some fun celebrations”.
Papa Luigi are well known for their fund raising events and the Pizza and Pasta Association have been represented several times at the same Cathedral Square; way back in 90`s at the World Pizza Eating Championships, such wonderful happy days oh how time has flown.
Well done Papa Luigi for keeping up the charity fund raising.

Papa Luigi Boys Roll back the Years to Bury the Hatchet
23rd February 2016
Before they ran Papa Luigi , Brothers Tony and Seb Scibelli with partner Stef Malajny ran an Entertainments business,. The guys were recently approached by Councillor John Peach the Mayor of Peterborough who was organising fund raising for the Mayors Charity and it was suggested a disco reunion be held at the Town hall.
Back in their promotions days the arch rival was a DJ called Steve Allen and it was decided that it was a good time to Bury the hatchet so to speak ( no not in Steve). The guys all got together and organised a great 70s/ 80,s disco revival with people attending from near and far. Not only did everyone have a great time they managed to raise £300 for the Mayors charity.
Guest of honour was 1981 World Disco dancing champion Trev McPherson who is still hitting the limelight but in a slightly different manner as he now is starring on TV programme Storage Hunters and Trev is a big Papa Luigi fan, you can see this how he has bulked up, which is essential in his new career.
Well done guys.
Slice of the action puts extra spring in the heel
13th July 2015
Papa Luigi`s famous Pizza demo team were warmly welcomed at Spring Common school Huntingdon by a group of hungry students, , not only were the youngsters able to sample the yummy pizzas they were taught how to make the pizzas and indeed each student then made their own pizza to take home. They could choose from football shape and special Heart shaped pizza and they placed all the topping s on themselves and made some delicious pizzas.
The youngsters were also taught speed box folding and the most popular part of the lesson was when Papa Luigi himself taught the youngsters the art of spinning the dough and indeed this led to a competition with dough being thrown very high and lots of special moves to receive bonus points. With one lucky student receiving a free pizza voucher from Papa Luigi.
When the youngsters sat down to enjoy the pizzas made in the demo, Papa Luigi informed everyone of the adventures he had when climbing Mount Vesuvius, which fortunately only had a minor eruption when he was on his Italian travels!
Luigi Commented in his very strong Italian accent , “Wella whata can I saya, the children were fantastico and I had a great time.”
Deputy head Mrs Mary -Anne Bolton from Spring Common also added , “ We are most grateful for the Papa Luigi team turning up, the children had a wonderful time learning some Italian words , all about healthy food and making the pizzas was so much fun, Papa Luigi himself was very vibrant and entertained the students at the same time teaching them how to cook the pizzas.”
It looks like the Spring Common school pizza demo is now an annual event as it was so popular the first year all the children asked could the pizza chefs return.
A great day had by all
Three slices of Victory for the Papa Luigi Pizza Powered Lions
20th January 2015
MK City Lions who have been proudly sponsored by Papa Luigi this year entered the Sunday league cup final on the back of a great County Cup victory and a warm up 7- 0 thrashing of Kettering Town Academy, and with a high energy Italian pasta diet they were really up for the game against rivals Waterhall 1st and both teams went to the cup final with a prize that many local players never achieve, playing on a league ground and a fantastic playing surface.
With this being the Mk`s second final it was apparent that they were not showing any nerves initially the big occasion did get to the challengers. Mk were in no mood to give up the cup that they have won the last two years and powered forward forcing the Waterhall keeper to make a string of fine saves. He could do nothing about the first goal however when powerhouse Fikayo Adelowo scored with a sweetly struck shot.
MK started the second half even stronger with Phum Bhemba thumping home another great goal just one minute into the half. MK piled on the pressure and the Waterhall keeper made several more fine saves but MK were just too strong and Kaya Mason and Mathew Chew added two more powerfully struck goals to put the tie to bed.
Elated manager Steve Farmborough spoke after the game. “ I am delighted for the lads , to win this trophy three years on the trot is a great feat and to add the County cup in has added to the strength building over this season, we blew Kettering town academy away in the warm up match shows the strength of our team.
I have made Ethan McKop our man of the match for his all-round display and I would like to thank paspa Luigi for his free Papa luigi Special voucher, I think a special mention should go to the Waterhall keeper pulling off some great saves and Waterhall lads for playing with great spirit.
I am sure we will be seeing some of my youngsters playing at a very high level in years to come and the club sponsors Papa Luigi will know that they wore their sponsored shirts with pride, it has been my pleasure to create a great stepping stone for the lads.”
Papa Luigi were so happy they have treated all the lads to pizzas and this high protein diet seemed to be doing the trick!
